The one rule that keeps you safe: never pay to earn

There's exactly one rule that filters out the large majority of beermoney scams, and it's simple enough to fit in a sentence: a legitimate program never asks you to pay money to start earning.

If an app wants your credit card before you've earned anything, walk away. If it promises an implausibly large signup bonus (the kind that sounds too good to be true) there's a catch you haven't found yet. If it asks you to "invest" to unlock higher earnings, it's not a beermoney program, it's a trap wearing one's clothes.

Real programs make money when you do (from advertisers, retailers, or researchers) so they have no reason to charge you. The ones that charge you have flipped the model: you are the revenue, not the earner.

When something's borderline, the community is your filter. Search the program's name on r/beermoney or r/scams before signing up. A two-minute search has saved a lot of people a lot of wasted hours. Legitimacy leaves a trail of real payout screenshots; scams leave a trail of complaints. Both are easy to find if you look before you leap.
