MyPoints review: the quiet Swagbucks sibling

MyPoints is one of the oldest names in the get-paid-to world (it's been around since the 1990s) and it shares a corporate parent with Swagbucks (both are Prodege brands). That family resemblance is the single most useful thing to know about it, because it answers the question most people actually have: should I use MyPoints, Swagbucks, or both?

What it is

MyPoints pays points for the familiar mix: shopping cashback, surveys, watching videos, reading promotional email, and occasional offers. Points redeem for gift cards at a low threshold, with PayPal cash available at a higher one. The gift-card catalog is broad, and gift-card redemptions are frequently discounted, which raises your effective rate a notch if you redeem smart.

The good parts

Two things stand out. The shopping side is solid: the retailer list is long, and point payouts per dollar are competitive with the bigger names on the right days. Where it falls short

The survey side is ordinary, with the usual disqualification friction, and the video/email earners pay very little for the attention they ask. Treat those as loose change on top, not the reason to join. And because it overlaps so heavily with Swagbucks, running both mostly makes sense when a specific store pays better on one than the other. The portals often differ per retailer, and checking both before a big purchase takes seconds.
