Swagbucks review: the beermoney all-rounder

Swagbucks is the most recognized name in beermoney, and for a beginner it's a reasonable default, not because it's the highest-earning option, but because it does a bit of everything in one place. Here's an honest look at where it's worth your time and where it isn't.

What it is

Swagbucks pays points, called SB, for a grab-bag of activities: surveys, shopping cashback, watching videos, playing games, and web search. Points redeem for PayPal cash or gift cards, with gift cards available at a lower threshold than cash. Roughly, 100 SB is about a dollar.

What it does well

The variety is the point. If surveys disqualify you, there's shopping cashback; if you don't feel like shopping, there are offers. That breadth makes Swagbucks hard to run out of things to do on, which is why it's a common first program. The shopping cashback in particular is easy, near-passive earning if you're buying online anyway.

Where it falls short

Variety cuts both ways: Swagbucks isn't the best at any single thing. Dedicated survey-takers can do better on survey-focused sites; serious cashback shoppers can find higher rates elsewhere. And like all survey offerings, its surveys carry disqualification risk that eats into the hourly rate. Use Swagbucks for breadth and convenience, not for maxing out any one activity.
